Indications

Ammonium picricum , also known as Picrate of Ammonia, is a potent medicinal compound from the nitric acid group, noted for its strong influence on the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system. It is particularly beneficial in conditions marked by congestion of the brain and spine, periodic headaches, and neuralgia, especially in the occipital region. The medicine is well-suited for individuals with bilious tendencies, nervous disturbances, and post-traumatic head symptoms, often accompanied by mental dullness and cardiac excitability. Common Name:  Dunnite SBL’s Ammonium picricum can be helpful in the following conditions: Occipital Headache and Neuralgia Strongly indicated in periodic neuralgia and headache, especially over the right occiput, extending to the ear, orbit, jaw, and temples. Headache often begins in the morning, with heaviness, vertigo on rising, and worsens on getting up. Pain may spread across the sides of the head to the eyes, followed by nausea and vomiting of sour bilious matter in the afternoon. Face appears darkly flushed during attacks. Post-Traumatic Occipital Disturbance Useful in head injury cases, particularly those involving the back of the head or occipital region. Symptoms include a “wild feeling” in the occiput, trembling, palpitations, and a sense of alarm or fright, especially after sudden movements, such as turning in bed or stooping. Spinal Congestion and Pressure Sensations Commended for its role in congestion of the brain and spinal cord. Indicated in spinal paresis and heaviness or pressure sensations that begin in the occiput and travel down the spine or vice versa. Comparable to Picric acid , which shares this spinal modality. Vertigo and Menstrual Connection Vertigo especially noticed on rising, often related to menstrual irregularities, and frequently paired with occipital heaviness. Ammonium picricum may be helpful in women with bilious constitution, who suffer periodically from these symptoms every six to eight days. Mental Dullness and Exhaustion Patient presents with obtuse mind, aversion to mental work, and general mental fatigue, especially during or after headache episodes. Cardiac Sensitivity and Palpitations Palpitations with trembling, intermissions, and a sense of panic, especially linked to nervous conditions or head symptoms. Heart symptoms may accompany head injuries, vertigo, or emotional disturbance.
