Nephrolithiasis (kidney stones) is a disease affecting the urinary tract. Kidney stones are small deposits that build up in the kidneys, made of calcium, phosphate and other components of foods. Between 1% and 15% of people globally are affected by kidney stones at some point in their life. They have many causes and can affect any part of urinary tract from kidneys to urinary bladder. Oft en, stones form when the urine becomes concentrated, allowing minerals to crystallize and stick together. Risk factors include high urine calcium levels, obesity, certain foods, some medications, calcium supplements, hyperparathyroidism, gout and not drinking enough fluids.

The initial presentation is oft en with renal colic – severe pain caused by stone passage – triggered by movement of a stone from the renal pelvis into the ureter, which leads to ureteral spasm and possibly obstruction oft en associated with nausea and vomiting. Lower urinary tract symptoms such as dysuria, urgency, and frequency may occur once a stone enters the ureter. Treatments of renal stones include general management and medical management. General management include dietary measures such as limiting the consumption of food rich in animal protein, food having excessive oxalate (spinach & cabbage) and increasing the fluid intake.

As far as homeopathy is concerned there are many medicines in homeopathy which are known to be helpful for removal of stones and for reducing the symptoms due to to renal stones. Omeo Renal is a combination product which has medicines known to be helpful for alleviating the symptoms of the renal calculi. For complete removal/ dissolution of renal calculi this medicine needs to be complemented with a constitutional homeopathic remedy for which patient has to consult the doctor in person and homeopathic doctor shall prescribe based on his or her totality. OmeoTM Renal Drops : A Homoeopathic speciality product to relieve the symptoms of renal calculi.

Indications: Helpful for symptoms due to renal calculi like renal colic & urinary tract infecti ons.

Composition: Acidum nitricum 6X (10% v/v), Berberis vulgaris 3X (10% v/v), Lycopodium clavatum 4X (10% v/v), Uva ursi 2X (10% v/v), Sarsaparilla 3X (10% v/v), Excipients: q.s.,Alcohol content 39% v/v

Action and indications of the ingredients of OmeoTM Renal drops :

Nitricum acidum: Urinary calculi, consisting of oxalates; urine cold when it passes; scanty, dark brown, smelling strong like horse?s urine; haematuria, blood flows actively.

Berberis vulgaris: Irritation induced by Bilious and Renal Calculi.

Lycopodium clavatum: Pain in back before urinating; ceases aft er fl ow; slow in coming, must strain.

Uva ursi: Is a good kidney tonic. It helps prevent the formation of kidney stones and tendencies toward bladder infections.

Sarsaparilla : Renal colic and passage of gravel and formation of vesicle calculi.

Dosage : 10-15 drops should be diluted in water and taken 2 hourly, 6 ti mes a day in acute pain. Once improvement starts reduce dose to three ti mes a day or as prescribed by the physician.

Direction for Use: To be taken 10 minutes before or aft er meals, or as directed by the physician.
