Sprain or a torn ligament is the stretching or tearing of ligament within a joint caused by an injury to the joint. It occurs most commonly in ankle, knee or wrist but can affect any joint. Most of the sprains are mild and cause minor swelling and bruise. Severe sprains can involve complete tears, ruptures or fractures which require surgical fixation.

Strain is an acute or chronic soft tissue injury to a muscle, tendon or both. The muscle or tendon overstretches and tears partially from a sudden increase in duration, intensity or frequency of activity. Strains affects the foot, leg or back most commonly. Management involves following the RICE acronym.

Action of Ingredients:

Ruta graveolens: This remedy has analgesic and anti inflammatory properties and is indicated in case of bruises and other mechanical injuries of the bones and periosteum: also after a fall or blow, when there is a bruised, lame sensation, especially of the wrists and ankles.

Acts upon the periosteum and cartilages, and relieves the complaints arising from straining flexor tendons. All parts of the body are painful, as if bruised. Sprains, Lameness after sprains. Spine and limbs feel bruised. Small of back and loins pain. Contraction of fingers. Pain and stiffness in wrists and hands. Tendons are sore. Aching pain in tendo-Achilles. Pain in bones of feet and ankles.
